The Great Beer Tasting - The contenders

After a grueling and exhaustive search, we were able to narrow our selection down to nine beers we wanted to try. The majority were domestics, but we also got a few imports as well, because the rest of the world has something to say about beer. Once we returned to the apartment, we included an apricot beer that was already there, bringing our grand tasting-total to 10.

Armed with plastic tasting cups and club crackers (for palette cleansing), we set to work! Here's the list of beers, with links to individual pages for each beer (coming soon). They are ordered from lightest (except the odd Cassissona) to darkest, in the order we tasted them:
  • Cassissona (Italy, Sparkling beer with black currant [cassias], 6.4% abv)
  • Abita SOS (Louisiana, Weizen Pils, 7% abv)
  • Pyramid Audacious Apricot (California, Fruit beer, 5.1% abv)
  • Dogfish Head Midas Touch (Delaware, Traditional Ale, 9% abv)
  • Belfast Bay Lobster Red Ale (Maine, Amber Ale, 5% abv)
  • Firestone Walker Humboldt Brown (California, Brown Ale, 5.7% abv)
  • Sierra Nevada Autumn Brown Tumbler (California, Brown Ale, 5.5% abv)
  • Troeg's Troegenator  (Pennsylvania, Doppelbock, 8.2% abv)
  • Otter Creek Stovepipe Porter (Vermont, Porter, 5.4% abv)
  • MeanTime Coffee Porter (UK, Porter, 6% abv)
